Sustainable Youth Canada
Sustainable Youth Canada (SYC-ÉJC) is a non-profit organization that empowers youth to lead and engage with environmental and energy sustainability initiatives. They recently collaborated with the Canadian government on a public consultation for the "Right to a Healthy Environment" (R2HE) framework.
As part of this collaboration, SYC-ÉJC organized a field trip that allowed youth to discuss and provide input on the R2HE framework, specifically in the context of Québec's emerging Northvolt battery plant development. By connecting the federal R2HE framework to local environmental issues—such as the challenges posed by the Northvolt site to biodiversity, water systems, and community well-being—SYC-ÉJC aims to inspire youth to make actionable recommendations. The initiative also seeks to encourage grassroots efforts against environmental injustice and empower young people to advocate for sustainable solutions within their communities.
